Salim-Sulaiman and Bohemia have provided the music for '8x10 Tasveer', with Irfan Siddique, Sameer and Bohemia (again) being the lyricists. The film revolves around the life of 'Jai' (Akshay Kumar), a man in his 30s. He has been born with a supernatural power, which allows him to look into the past of a dead person. All he has to do is get an 8X10 photograph (tasveer) of the deceased and his soul travels into the latter's past, re-discovering it and, many times, its secrets as well. Though Jai's family members and even his friends are doubtful of his powers, he manages to make a living out of it, not too difficult considering the number of people in this world who still believe in the supernatural.
Jatin, Jai's father, doesn't believe in the powers his son has been blessed with and believes that Jai is wasting his life on utter 'nonsense', rather than helping him run the business. As the relationship between Jai and Jatin breaks down, the former leaves his parents' house. Unknown to her husband, Savitri (Jai's mother) manages to maintain contact with Jai. Even Sheela (Ayesha), Jai's wife and the love of his life, is not too happy with his 'tasveer' powers, but still supports him. In fact, she is the one who serves as the bread-winner of the family, with Jai not exactly 'minting money' with what he does.
One day, Jai comes to know that his father has been involved in a boating accident, which cost him his life. Miserable that he missed out on so many precious moments with his dad, because they were at loggerheads, he comes across Jatin's last photograph, with the entire group of friends and family members. The photo was taken aboard the boat, minutes before the accident. As he goes into his father's past, Jai discovers that Jatin was murdered. At great risk, he delves deeper and comes to find an astonishing truth. Who was Jatin's killer? What was his motive? What will Jai do now? These, and a lot of other questions, will be answered on 3rd April 2009, the date of the film's release.
